Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026
This privacy policy explains how Youth X Mentoring ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit youthxmentoring.com. We handle data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. Cookies and tracking

This website uses cookies – small text files stored on your device. Some are set by the platform the site is built on; others are only set if you agree to them.

Cargo
This site is built and hosted on Cargo. Cargo sets its own cookies, including functional ones needed for the site to display correctly and cookies it uses to estimate audience size and traffic for its own purposes. We have no access to that data and no way to switch those cookies off. Cargo is a US company and stores data in US data centres. Its policy is at https://cargo.site/privacy

Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site – which pages are read, how long people stay, where visits come from. This data is pseudonymised rather than anonymous: it doesn't include your name, but IP addresses and cookie identifiers are personal data under UK GDPR. Google Analytics transfers data to Google servers in the United States. Google processes this data under its own terms as well as ours. See https://policies.google.com/privacy

We use these figures for two things: to see which parts of the site are useful and improve them, and to report visitor numbers to the funders who support this programme. Grant reporting often requires evidence of reach, so accepting cookies genuinely helps – but it is entirely optional and we don't treat anyone differently for declining.

Google Analytics only loads if you accept cookies. If you decline, no analytics cookies are set and no data is sent to Google.

Google Forms
We use Google Forms to collect responses and applications. These aren't embedded in the site – the links open Google's own site in a new tab, so nothing from Google loads here and no Google cookies are set by this site.

Once you're on Google's site, Google sets its own cookies and collects data including your IP address and browser information, under its own policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy. Responses you submit are stored on Google's servers in the United States before we retrieve them.

If you'd rather not use a Google Form, PDFs have been provided in some instances, or you can contact us by email instead and we'll take your information that way.

2. Your consent

When you first visit, a notice asks whether you accept or decline cookies. Nothing beyond the site's own functional cookies is set until you choose. Declining doesn't affect how the site works.

You can change your mind at any time: change your cookie choice.

3. Information you submit via forms

If you submit information through one of our forms, it will be used solely for the purpose stated on that form – for example, to process an application to the mentorship programme. We don't sell or share your data, or use it for any unrelated purpose.

Because these are Google Forms, responses are stored on Google's servers in the United States before we retrieve them.

4. Your rights and Complaints

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to request correction or deletion, and to object to or restrict how we process it.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you can complain to us using the contact details above. We will acknowledge your complaint within 30 days and tell you the outcome as soon as we can.

You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. You do not have to complain to us first.

5. Data retention

Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months, after which event-level data is automatically deleted. Aggregated reports are retained by Google beyond that period.

Form responses are kept only as long as needed for the purpose they were collected for, and deleted when no longer needed.

6. Third-party links

Our site may contain links to other websites. We aren't responsible for the privacy practices of those sites and encourage you to read their own policies.

7. Contact

If you have any questions about this policy, or wish to exercise your rights regarding your personal data, contact us at uprootinghate@gmail.com
